 An evergreen oak tree, with leaves that are not the typical oak leaf shape. The young leaves look similar to Holly. 

It does shed the previous-year leaves in May/June.

Introduced to UK in the 1500’s,  so non-native, but it still supports plenty of wildlife

This specimen is very noticeable by its very rugged trunk

There is another specimen on the other side of the track but is not as grand.
